RATIONALE FOR ALLIANCE V0CATIONAL SCHOOL
Alliance Vocational School was formed after considerable reflections on the Uganda Educational and Development content demands.
Young people make up more than 50% of the population of the districts of the western region, where Ibanda district is located and of Uganda as whole.
According to the Ibanda District Local Government District Population Action Plan 2010/12 to 2014/15, the districts population is very young.
These young people are a potential resource for growth and social development if gainfully and productively engaged.
But they could also be a source of devastating social Development if gainfully and productively engaged .
But they could also be a source of devastating social tension and conflicts if not.
In many instances, the degree to which youth can contribute to the possibilities of the districts in particular and the country 1 generalist constrained by circumscribed life changes.
Dysfunctional educational curricular that promotes “job seeking” and not “job makers” results in most educated youth not fitting into the job market and thus leads to massive lacking of job opportunities.
The countless number of jobless young people on the streets of Ugandan cities, Municipalities and towns bears ample witness to the limited jobs and other opportunities that the youth of the country have. Yet the development of the continent rests squarely on youth.
Consequently, there is urgent need to vocationalise the educational system in Uganda in order to enhance economic opportunities of youth.
Alliance Vocational School was formed to address the core problem of training youth in Vocational and business skills to curb the youth unemployment by enhancing their’ job creating” as opposed to “job seeking needs”.
Alliance Vocational School intends to address on the main drivers of youth unemployment which are;

The generalized lack of employment opportunities due to the underdevelopment of these sub urban economies.

Arrange placements for graduates in small formal public and formal sector.

Promote technical and life skills training to address the low literacy and numeracy rates.

Advocate reforms in the education sector to reverse the poor quality education sector that increasingly equips young people with industrial skills.
